MOBILE MAGNETIC RESONANCE IMAGING SERVICE

A major diagnostic center in northern Italy recently found itself in need of replacing one of its MRIs.
The considerable usual volumes of work, the budget received from the Local Social Health Unit and the large afferent catchment area made it impractical to reduce activity.
The difficulties, however, were many: first of all, there was a lack of space within the facility to place the mobile unit, so after careful study, a location was found on the public street, in the immediate vicinity of the diagnostic center and in conjunction with a suitable access, which would allow the transit of patients, including stretchers, and operators ( Radiology Technicians, Radiology Physicians and nursing staff).
However, the access involved passing through an area used for storage, with “rustic” walls.
We therefore designed a connecting tunnel, both inside the warehouse and also outside, suitable for patient and operator access, with an elegant and aesthetically pleasing appearance and able to ensure maximum privacy and every “comfort.”

The connecting tunnel was then equipped with appropriate lighting by means of LED light fixtures and distributed air conditioning systems capable of ensuring the desired temperature and relative humidity conditions throughout the entire route.
In addition, in the terminal section of the tunnel, near the entrance on the mobile unit, two changing rooms were created.

Our technical department also worked to manage the obtaining of public land occupation permits from the local police headquarters, providing the necessary planimetric surveys.
Finally, with the help of the Magnetic Resonance Tomograph manufacturer and with the cooperation of the diagnostic center’s IT technicians, the connection with the facility’s RIS/PACS was set up, allowing the system to be used exactly as the fixed one being replaced.
During the first days of service, we also provided the availability of our TSRM specialists who appropriately trained the diagnostic center staff and assisted them in the transfer of protocols and start-up.
Thanks to the existing local network, the MRI installed on the mobile unit was made connectable by the manufacturer’s technical service, which was thus able to monitor its proper functioning, possibly being able to quickly solve certain problems by intervening remotely.
The vocation of our company is to offer the user, whether public or private, the complete and tailor-made solution for every need, even in the presence of the particular and diverse complexities that may arise from time to time.
